Cowhide rugs add a rustic and cozy feel to any room. A cowhide rug is extremely durable; however, it is incredibly soft to the touch. This makes it a wonderful addition to any room. It holds up, but it feels smooth and comfortable on the feet. Its warming properties make it an excellent selection for placing near seating areas or in front of a warm fireplace. Several can be used around the home to help preserve heat in the home; however, a single cowhide rug is generally used in the center of a room.

It can seem like cowhide rugs are used by a select few, they are extensively used by many people who have different tastes in décor and who live in many regions, such as by the beach or in the middle of the woods. Cowhide can be dyed or come in its natural print and colors. For this reason, cowhide rugs can be customized to match any décor. They can be placed on the wall, draped over a couch or placed on the floor. They accentuate other leather pieces, such as furniture, and they help to tie in a look that features accent leather pieces.

Cowhide rugs are durable. Unlike carpet and other rugs, a cowhide rug does not become worn with regular foot traffic. This makes a cowhide rug an excellent solution for an entryway or for placing in the middle of the room. They are easy to maintain. In case of dirt or any kind of spill, a damp sponge or mild soap and water can be used to clean a cowhide rug, which means that they are easier to clean than carpet and other types of rugs. Cowhide rugs can be shaken to instantly increase their fluff.

Cowhide rugs are hypoallergenic, which means that they don’t cause allergies. Also, because they are easy to clean and do not consist of fibers in the same way carpet does, there is less chance for dust mites to occupy the home. Dust mites choose to live in tightly-woven carpet fibers where a collection of human skin cells and other debris collects. People are not directly allergic to dust mites, but people are allergic to dust mite fecal matter.

Cowhide rugs continue to increase in popularity because of their beautiful properties, use and ease of cleaning. This is especially true for homeowners with large families and homes that have a lot of foot traffic, smaller children and pets.
